Local Garden Nursery Benefit for Animals
Kingston, WA — On Sunday, August 12, 2012 Dragonfly Nursery is having a special event to benefit the Kitsap County Humane Society. Half of the nursery’s profits from sales that day, will be donated. There will be a silent auction on a special collection of plants, as well as gift baskets of goodies donated by local Kingston stores. At the Saturday Kingston Farmer’s Market, Sweet Dahlia Bakery will keep a donation jar in her booth for those who would like to donate there.
Please visit the Nursery located on the Hansville Highway and enjoy great plants and goodies galore that will help our local animals in need. Visit Dragonfly Nursery web site for directions, sign up for her newsletter, and read more about this wonderful gem in the north end corner of Kitsap County.
Excerpt from the Dragonfly Newsletter about this cause:
“Many of you know just how much I love animals and see all my heathens running around here. Last Winter, my friend Debbie called me who is now in a wheelchair and is having battles of her own. Her puppy a blue heeler, crawled over the baby gate and broke his leg bad. She took him to the nearest vet screaming in pain and they put a pain patch on him and sent him home with the leg still broken because she had no money. She tried for days to find any help and there are no funds anywhere. She wasn't accepted for the credit care credit card either so she was stuck.
I called the Humane Society since the past director had been in here shopping with his wife and Dr. Moore of Appletree Animal Hospital did all the surgery for free. If any of you know Dr. Moore this won't surprise you, but It shows that there are still great people out there. The leg had to be amputated and Dr. Moore even took the little man home for 10 days until he felt comfortable sending him home with Debbie…”
