Comfortable as
an Old Pair of Jeans
I live in my jeans, and when they’re worn beyond being able to wear them without being arrested, I hate to let them go. My blue jeans are old friends, starting out as casual wear and ending their life span as pants I wear when working in my garden. It’s a sad day when I have to say goodbye.
Then I spotted this ingenious planter in the Olympia garden of Ray and Shanna Winters during a Garden Conservancy Tour. We fill our shoes and boots with plants; why not make a cute tribute to our comfortable old jeans, and plant them in the garden. Even cutting the legs off and planting them as cutoffs would be cute.
And why stop there? Our scarecrows can be planters too! Excuse me please; I am off to the drawing board to figure out how to plant some old dresses.
