GROWING GUIDE

Geographic Origin: Pacific Northwest - B.C. to California.
Plant Group: Perennial.
Hardiness: Sunset zones: Not listed. USDA zones: 4-8.
Mature size: Height: 2-4 inches (5-10 cm).
Flowering period: Summer.
Flowering attributes: Pink to lavender flowers with 5 sepals fused on a long tube at the end of stems.
Leaf attributes: Needle-like green leaves.
Growth habit: Spreading, mat-forming perennial.
Light: Full sun.
Soil: Sharp drainage, rocky soil or scree.
Propagation Methods: Sow seed when ripe and place in a cold frame, or spring. | Basal cuttings in spring. | Softwood cuttings in spring.

Rainy Side Notes

This alpine does best on a scree or crevice and soil must have sharp drainage. Mine is struggling, growing on a rock ledge. With a tap root it most likely won't survive a move. I hope the struggle will be over soon and it will grow to be as glorious as the ones I encounter growing wild in the mountains.
