GROWING GUIDE

Geographic Origin: South Africa.
Plant Group: Perennial.
Hardiness: Sunset zones: 7-9, 14-24. USDA zones: 7-9.
Mature size: Height: 12 inches (30 cm). Width: 20 inches (50 cm).
Flowering period: Summer.
Flowering attributes: Tall racemes of pink flowers.
Leaf attributes: Heart-shaped, toothed, stalk-less leaves that are evergreen in mild climates or during a mild winter, semi-evergreen in colder areas.
Growth habit: Trailing, sprawling perennial.
Light: Full sun.
Soil: Fertile, moist soil with excellent drainage.
Feeding: Side dress with compost or manures in autumn. Fertilize in spring with a complete organic fertilizer.
Propagation Methods: Sow seed as soon as ripe. | Softwood cuttings in spring. | Semi-ripe cuttings in summer.
Pruning Methods: Deadhead flowers for prolonged flower display.

Diascia comes from the Greek words di–two, and askos–a sac, and rigescens means somewhat rigid.

Diascia's heart shaped leaves and dense flowering makes you sit up and take notice of this beautiful twelve-inch high plant. D. rigescens looks exceptional on a rock wall, especially when planted at eye level.
