Rainy Side Notes

E. 'Suphureum' is a cross between E. grandiflorum and E. pinnatum subsp. colchicum. It will creep slowly, about four to six inches each year, forming a weed-suppressing mat. In late winter, the leaves are a leathery burgundy color. At this time, the leaves are cut to the ground to allow for new leaves and flowers to show at their best. New leaves emerge with red tints in spring.
