Hanging fuchsia

Family: Onagraceae

Pronounced: FEWK-see-ah

GROWING GUIDE

Geographical origin: Garden.
Plant Group Subshrub.
Hardiness Sunset zones: 4-6, 15-17, 22-24. USDA zones: 8-10
Flowering period Summer until first frost.
Flowering attributes Double flowers with rose-red sepals and lavender to purple corollas.
Light Partial shade.
Soil Humus rich, well-drained soil.
Feeding Since this fuchsia is usually grown in a hanging basket I like to fertilize weekly with a soluble fertilizer mixed 1/2 strength. While actively growing in the greenhouse I give a very weak solution of water-soluble fertilizer every time it is watered until it is acclimated outside.

Propagation Methods Semi-ripe cuttings in late summer, winter over in a cool greenhouse.
Pruning Methods Pinch out new growth in spring to encourage bushiness.
