GROWING GUIDE

Geographic Origin: Europe.
Plant Group: Subshrub.

Hardiness: Sunset zones: All (Western). USDA zones: 5-9.
Mature size: Height: 12 inches (30 cm). Width: 16 inches (40 cm).
Flowering period: Early to late spring.
Flowering attributes: White flowers born on corymb-like racemes that cover the shrub.
Leaf attributes: Evergreen, small, spoon-shaped leaves.
Growth habit: Spreading mound.
Light: Full sun.
Soil: Moist, well-drained, neutral soil (neutral soil shown in references but it thrives on acidic soil in my Pacific Northwest garden.)
Feeding: Side dress with compost or composted manures in spring.
Propagation Methods: Sow seed in autumn and place in a cold frame. | Softwood cuttings in late spring, semi-ripe cuttings in summer.
Pruning Methods: Prune lightly after flowering to keep compact.

Rainy Side Notes

Flowering about the same time as Scilla, Iberis complements the bulbs when planted in the same bed. A common plant that I never get tired of seeing it in full bloom cascading down a rock wall.
