Rainy Side Notes

Brachyglottis compactus is a wonderful shrub, giving structure to the winter garden with its hairy evergreen leaves that are soft to the touch. It's incredibly salt tolerant, and with its need for good drainage, B. compactus will thrive in the sandy soil of a seaside garden. It is a great plant for cut flowers and foliage for floral arrangements. If you like yellow daisies, this shrub will be a wonderful addition to your garden.

B. compactus is found growing wild in a very small area of New Zealand on a reserve at Castlepoint. Fortunately, it is available in the nursery trade, and I am able to have this shrub and other wonderful New Zealand natives, gracing my American garden.
