Rainy Side Notes

Raised by George Jackman in 1875, Clematis ‘Belle of Woking’ is a cross between C. ‘Lanuginosa Candida’ and C. ‘Fortunei’. It is notoriously slow to establish, and in some areas of the country it is a weak grower. Here in the Pacific Northwest, once established, the vine can take off like a rocket, provided it is protected from strong winds. The clematis takes well to container-culture and makes a great cut flower.
