GROWING GUIDE

Geographic Origin: Garden.
Plant Group: Climber.
Hardiness: Sunset zones: 2-24. USDA zones: 5-9.
Mature size: Height: 22 feet (6.7 m).
Flowering period: Mid to late summer.
Flowering attributes: Two-inch long, fragrant flowers, creamy white inside, purple-red outside fading to yellow as it ages.
Leaf attributes: Ovate paired green leaves, may be evergreen in mild winters.
Growth habit: Twining climber.
Light: Fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil.
Soil: Full sun to partial shade.
Feeding: During growth period apply liquid fertilizer monthly.
Propagation Methods: Semi-ripe cuttings in summer. | Hardwood cuttings in late summer.
Pruning Methods: Prune immediately after flowering.

Rainy Side Notes

Additional watering may be needed during our Northwest drought season. Beautiful and fragrant flowers attract the hummingbirds making this climber worth growing. Birds eat the berries.

This honeysuckle is a good plant for birds, including the hummingbird.
