Scientific names--How to say them

This page is very helpful for identifying how to pronounce those latin names.

What a great page Debbie. I can always use any help in learning how to correctly pronounce latin. It seems to be something i can't quite get a hang on. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks, Debbie! I am terrible at pronouncing plant names, so that link will be helpful.

For years, I've used a little pocket guide my son gave me- New Pronouncing Dictionary of Plant Names, published by the American Nurseryman Publishing Company. It is small enough to fit into a pocket, quite complete in its listings, and gives accepted alternate pronunciations, and references the common names to the botanical ones. It was available at the University Bookstore when he was at UW.

Aha! I knew there was a reason I took two years of Latin in school!
The kiss of the Sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's heart in the garden,
Than anywhere else on Earth.
