How do you all keep your garden records? Hand written? Computer based? I'd love a good computer program to keep track of all I plant, germination times, harvest dates, etc. but not sure what is out there. Any ideas are welcome!

Hi luv, (always wanted to say that)

We had an interesting thread about this topic here. It seems most of us used spreadsheets.

Some of us use handwritten journals. I keep a journal and pen with my daily garden supplies - that way I can make notes while I have the thought in my head. Four journals - winter, spring, summer, and fall, with a page for each date and a section at the end of each notebook for notes such as to do lists, plant names, and so on that are not date-related.

Each daily page shows the weather: minimum and maximum temperatures, cloud cover, precipitation, and other (wind, etc.); what's blooming, what's harvestable, tasks completed, and comments. I can fit four years on each page, making it easy to compare bloom times, weather, and so on.

It may not be as organized as a spreadsheet, but I would never take the time to figure out a spreadsheet and use it consistently. My calendar is also a written one - it just works better for me.

Thanks Deb & Genko!
I will look over the other thread for ideas, I guess I'll be starting a spreadsheet journal soon! I was kinda hoping for a good software program. I found one but it is online based & I don't like how it is set up.

I would LOVE a program where I could have my garden plotted out on a graph & clickable - clicking on a plant on the graph would bring up the data sheet for that plant. I guess that's too much to ask for ,ha!

I know there are such programs; however, I don't know how good they are. If you find some on Amazon.com you can always read their reviews by people who use them, do a search on the programs and see what other reviews may pop up.

Oh and if you do get a program, I hope you tell us about it, how you like it, etc.
