We have lived here in Vancouver, Wa. for about a year now and experienced maybe 2 bug splats on our car windshield. We also have explored much of Clark county most weekends too. Yesterday, my wife came back from a 2 day trip to Wala Wala and the windshield as well as the front of the car was covered with bug splats. She had washed the car windows at a gas station while refueling, but on her return one could barely see through the bug splats. Easier to count the bug free areas by the 1/4 inch as the number of bug splats. Why the difference ?

But seriously, we just don't have as many flying bugs here. (Or we have smarter ones that stay off the road.) I remember going through California and the amazing amount of bugs hitting the windshield.

I bet those bugs on the windshield don't have the guts to do that again.

Where are the birds? I find that there are maybe less than 10% dirds here than what we have in Central Cal. and there are 99% more bugs there.
