Raab Park
Youth Garden
by Debbie Teashon
I don't know why, but I made an appointment with my hairdresser for a much needed haircut shortly after my visit to Raab Park's Youth Garden in Poulsbo, WA. Lucky kids, have this beautiful, creative garden to work and play in.
I remember the day the garden was first worked on. There was an empty field of mown grass and a large pile of newspapers and a huge mound of chippings from the county. It was arbor day in 1997 if memory serves me right, and a group of Master Gardener volunteers and others laid newspaper down along the pathways and smothered them in chips.
I finally went back almost two decades later and visited the children's garden and enjoyed the views through the lens of my camera.
