End of Season
Zucchini Madness
by Debbie Teashon
Zucchini in my garden,
up the driveway,
down the walk.
Reaching for
my neighbors,
they begin to balk.
Threaten me
when I offer
more swollen fruit.
I can only ask
what am I to do?
Zucchini bread,
zucchini relish,
zucchini in a pan.
Sizzling hot
with bacon,
creativity sets in.
Zucchini salad,
tomatoes, beans,
dishes piled high.
Zucchini and parmesan,
everything stir fried.
Steamed, and broiled
topped with cheese
baked and grilled
stop it please.
One more way,
served with rice,
children beg me,
give to mice.
End of summer madness,
I promise to resolve.
I’ll plant only one,
let it die,
problem solved.
