yup, it's raining here. finally. i can't believe how dry my garden is. it's only supposed to lightly rain today, returning with more rain this weekend. they were predicting rain through spring break but now they are predicting cloudy days, no rain.
we need rain. okay, everyone, let's start doing our rain dances. but don't overdo it, please - dance in moderation.

oh, wow, no one wants to see that. trust me. lol
that wind was something, md. the ground is littered with pear and plum tree blooms. plus a few doug fir branches and such. as winnie the pooh would say, it's a blustery day. i would have liked more rain, though. i hope we get more this weekend.

I think it rained because I watered yesterday. Hmmm . . . maybe I can water again. When would you folks like the next rain shower?

Tomorrow would be nice, Barb! LOL. We did get some nice rain, a good soaking. Cleared the air a bit! I love the fresh smell of rain.

we had tons of rain here yesterday but even stronger was that wind! Skinned our 20ft long greenhouse of its plastic. we thought we had attached it very well but just goes to show you that mother nature always wins..lol. re-grouping till this weekend and then tryning again. but i am sure glad we had the wind and rain as like jeanne said there is nothing like the smell of fresh clean air.

We are having rain again today--YAY! I didn't even have to water to get it!
What I would really like is 4 or 5 days of solid rain. Maybe with a few breaks, to give the ground time to soak it up, but several days of hard, honest to goodness RAIN! We hare having sporadic showers here, sprinkles interspersed with real showers, but really not enough.
I guess I'm never satisfied. During El Nino years, I whine about too much rain. This year, I'm whining because we don't have enough.

Okay so who asked for rain for the whole weekend! I cannot get anything done out there. Oh wait that leaves the house work to do and there was some painting and some beer to bottle and oh crud I guess there is plenty to do and I am thankful for the rain!

Actually, Barb. We are in an El Nino year. El Nino brings dry, unseasonably warm weather to the PNW, La Nina bring wet, colder weather. The weather service does have some interesting data on El Nino.
I sure did enjoy the Good Ol' Portland rain but I agree I was planning on doing some gardening on Sunday. That didn't happen. But that's okay because we really needed the rain.

Well, darn, I got them backwards!
Okay--El Nino dry; La Nina wet.

Have you had enough rain yet Lisa? 2to3 days of steady downpour sure raises the rivers and creeks.........But, we still have a lot to go before we get to our 'Normal' state.
Ahhh the fresh smell after a good rain!!

Well, Lisa you were the one doing rain dances! You've done a great job! I love the rain but it is kind of nice to get a respite this morning. We'll get more tonight.

It would be fine with me if it rained all week, and at night during the weekend. Can you rain dancers arrange that?

lol, trust me, i don't have that much power for my one rain dance [done mercifully out of eyesight of everyone] to have brought all this rain. someone - or several people - must be helping me.
last night on the news, they said if forecasts prove true, march will end being slightly wetter than normal. pretty remarkably considering they were predicting a record-breaking dry month just a week or so ago. they are also saying that if the portland area gets 50% of normal rain/snow fall, our area will be okay - our snowpack and reservoirs will be sufficient for this region to avoid drought conditions. i did not hear how likely that is to occur or how much more rain we need to reach that amount [my kids were yammering at the same time].
last i heard 3 oregon counties were already declared in drought conditions by the governor. baker and klamath counties are 2 i recall. there is a website that lists drought status but i can't seem to find it. i'll keep trying.

Haven't had time to read all the relplies to your post yet but, I have been screaming with glee since those lovely drops started falling from the sky. Boy, we sure needed it! My garden plants are screaming with joy as well, you should see how much they've grown since the rain started.
It's funny though, because most people that I know scowl when it rains. Me, I jump with joy. Love the rain.

Opa, It must be pretty noisy over in your neighborhood, what with humans and plants screaming and all.
We had wind, hail, sun, rain, thunder and lightening, and rainbows. I see the real March is back.

Okay, when I got off work this evening, I could see a rain cloud just POURING over Puget Sound! Seems to me we need some directional management, if we're going to get rain one cloud at a time.

How did you like the hail? I watched it go across our parking lot at work, cross over 99 as it headed east. Weird stuff that was, but cool too!
I don't care now what it does this weekend, I think I have the flu

Barb, The hail was a substitute for snow this year. It was strange to see the "snow" after it battered down some of my daffs. Kind of pretty when things are blooming. Hope you don't have the flu! So many getting sick lately. Get well soon!
