I've planted my winter lettuces and kale. Is it too late to start scallions? Is there anything else I can plant now (besides garlic) for harvest this winter or early spring?

Daisy,
Yes, you should be able to get your scallions to work still with a Sep sowing. Radishes too and overwintered onions.
With a cloche or coldframe you can also start some spinach and other greens for early spring.
