Alaska to California.

Flowering attributes:
Racemes of funnel shaped flowers. The common name comes from someone thinking the flower looked like a grinning monkey.

Ovate to oval green leaves.

Spreading and vigorous.

Full sun to partial shade.
Soil:
Wet or seepage areas, fertile humus rich soil, I have seen them growing in gravelly soils where it is constantly moist.
Feeding:
Side dress with compost.
Propagation Methods:
Sow seed and place in cold frame in autumn or sow in spring .
Divide in spring (Stolons root along nodes).

I have this growing along the ledge of my pond. The roots creep into the pond for moisture.
