Origin:
Garden.
Plant Group:
Tender perennial.
Hardiness:
Sunset zones: 14-17, 20, 24; Protect from frost in our Pacific Northwest maritime climate.
Mature size:
Height: 3 feet (1 m).
Width: 3 feet (1 m).
Flowering period:
Summer until first frost.
Flowering attributes:
Long, tubular, orange-red flowers.
Light:
Partial shade.
Soil:
Humus rich, well-drained soil.
Feeding:
Heavy feeders, so fertilize monthly with a complete organic fertilizer, from spring through July.
Propagation methods:
Semi-ripe cuttings in late summer, winter over in a cool greenhouse.
Pruning methods:
Pinch out new growth in spring to encourage bushiness.

This fuchsia is a tender perennial that I over winter in the greenhouse. I dig up the plants in the garden and take cuttings for the following year's garden. Since they are a hummingbird favorite, I plant them out every year. The hummingbirds thank me by frequently visiting my garden.
